To quote a pastor friend of mine Warren Lamb, “The truth takes no sides. It just is.”
This is so true and we need the truth to keep us calibrated to live rightly. In fact, we need calibration all the time especially with hard truths that are difficult to fathom or disturbing to even think about. Putting it another way, in the absence of facts, but in the presence of euphemisms and lies, there is a sort of wicked slide we can end up doing which results in trivializing the evil of child sacrifice in our land. I think this even happens to the most staunch abolitionist. And this is why we must always be filling our minds with the truth, especially the truth of God’s word.
But it is equally or even worse with the rest of the culture that is constantly bombarded with euphemisms and lies that gives them the illusion of helping them with their guilt regarding this matter. We not only have a culture that is being fed lies, but they are a culture that wants to believe them. The lies are more compatible with their worldview and lifestyle. The lies make them feel better about their complicity and/or complacency regarding the holocaust in our land.
Hillary Clinton was so enthusiastic in her position to defend the “woman’s choice” to killing her child it was scary. On the one hand I appreciate the straight talk and candor. But on the other it is really disturbing. Disturbing not only that she can be so calloused and heartless, but even more disturbing that half or more of America is supporting this person for the highest executive office in the land.
Donald Trump, although he talked adamantly about how wrong it is to “tear a baby out of the womb”, waffled in the direct question of his desire to see Roe v. Wade overturned. He never directly said,”Abortion is murder. And it ought to be abolished now.” When given the opportunity to directly speak to his desire to see abortion abolished or not, he answered with an anemic response of, “The issue will go back to the states, and the states will decide.”
But while each of these politicians were giving their answer I couldn’t help but to think about how everyone seems to be forgetting what abortion actually is; a violent act against the most innocent and defenseless among us.
The next time you hear a politician, or anyone for that matter, speaking about abortion in the abstract such as just calling it a “woman’s choice”, or the next time you hear a pastor call it “just another social ill”, or the next time you hear a Christian friend say, “this is just your passion”, …etc.,….think about the little girl in the picture on this page and the thousands of others just like her who are killed every day. These are real people, real lives, real children, and the most defenseless and innocent among us who are being killed.
Any real leader would without shame or hesitation roundly condemn this act and call it what it is; sin.
Any legitimate pastor would without reservation agree with God, and lead those who are watching him to do the same, and see that these children are our neighbors who we are to love as ourselves.
And all of us as Christians should endorse only politicians who see abortion for what it is and will do all that they can to bring justice to the pre-born people group.
The word “abortion” really is a euphemism and we must never forget what that word really represents. These are children who bear the image of God and are the least of these among us. Do not ever forget that.
